🚨 Take Action Tuesday: Act Today 🚨The House budget includes Sec. 603(44), directing SBCTC to move toward closing at least one college by November 2026.This approach assumes a closure before analysis is complete and before faculty, staff, students, employers, and communities are fully engaged. Even signaling a possible closure can harm enrollment, hiring, partnerships, and long‑term planning across the system.Many colleges are the primary postsecondary access point in their region. Member Voice Thursday:How can we, as a college, a state, and society, afford to NOT support early childhood education and programs for Parent Education? Parent Education fills a critical role in early learning from providing affordable care and education along with early intervention, community building and outreach. Our seven cooperatives educate more than 500 students. Cutting our program leaves a gap for our college to have access to our student demographic. Cutting our program means workers are unable to earn a fair and living wage. Colleges rely on this funding to support cooperative preschools, covering instructional time, program coordination, and educator roles. While the details vary by campus, the impact is the same: less stability for programs families depend on.These funding decisions don’t happen in isolation.
