Hello Shoreline faculty!

With all the local issues our school is currently facing this year, it's important to remember that what every college faculty member, administrator, and president should want is more money from Washington State. It's time to show up to town halls and picketing events this spring to make ourselves heard as the legislature works on putting together the 2019-2021 state budget:

FIRST: If you haven't already, sign up for the AFT Legisletter to stay up-to-date on what's happening down in Olympia:

SECOND: Go to a town hall meeting and wear your blue union shirt! Here are two important ones, and the first one is THIS SATURDAY.

MOST IMPACT:
43rd District Town Hall (Frank Chopp, who represents the 43rd district, is also Speaker of the House)
Saturday, March 16, 1:30 – 3 p.m.
First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122

SHORELINE'S DISTRICT:
32nd District Town Hall
Saturday, March 23, 2 – 3 p.m.
Lynnwood Fire Department Station 15, 18899 W. 44th Avenue, Lynnwood, WA 98036

THIRD: Head down to Olympia!
Wednesday, March 27th, 10 - 6 p.m.

10am-3pm: Picket for more funding at the Sundial at the State Capitol
416 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98504

4:30pm: Attend the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges Meeting, which will include the Part-Time Best Practices Work Group Presentation
1300 Quince St SE, Olympia, WA 98501

The next couple months are a crucial time to make legislators pay attention to the financial needs our colleges! Please try to make it to one of these upcoming events and contact the Shoreline executive board if you need a blue union shirt.
